About the role
Duolingo is looking for a highly motivated accountant to work on month end close and SEC Reporting items. This role will be responsible for posting journal entries, preparing reconciliations, assisting with audit requests, and working on our monthly and quarterly SEC filings.
This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.
  
You will...
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations related to our payroll and equity processes
  • Manage our capitalized software process including assessment of new projects and monthly journal entries
  • Review employee expense data for accurate coding to accounts and classes
  • Assist in compiling and reviewing our quarterly and annual financial statements filed with the SEC
 
You have...
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, PCAOB, and SEC requirements
  • Experience with month-end close processes
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to meet sensitive deadlines with high precision
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in our Pittsburgh office
 
Exceptional candidates will have...
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • CPA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working in a public company and/or a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Proficiency in Workiva, NetSuite, and Blackline.
  • Experience reviewing SOC reports.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace.
  • Experience at a fast-paced tech startup.
  • A strong Duolingo Streak!

Salary Range: 
$100,300—$163,300 USD
