Job Summary
As the Senior Administrative Assistant for the Purdue Polytechnic Institute (PPI), you'll play a crucial role in supporting our graduate education programming and departmental operations. In this dynamic position, you will:
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for TLI graduate education programming
  • Manage and process graduate student applications
  • Support course registration and ensure alignment with academic policies
  • Facilitate graduate education committee meetings
  • Act as the department's approver for graduate student plans of study, theses, and graduation requirements
  • Manage offer letters and hiring processes for graduate assistants
  • Assist with departmental purchasing and travel arrangements
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes for graduate committee meetings

This role requires a high level of independence, discretion, and attention to detail. You'll handle non-routine inquiries, draft correspondence, and manage special projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring smooth operations and supporting the success of our graduate students and faculty.

What We Are Looking For :
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
  • A high school diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative support role.
 
Skills needed:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions.
  • Drafting, proofreading and editing skills.
