Job Summary
Purdue University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks a dynamic Associate Director of Operations, Outreach and Campus Engagement. This key leadership role is ideal for a strong generalist therapist eager to make a difference in a vibrant campus community.
 
You will provide vision and oversight for all outreach and campus engagement initiatives, including the CAPS Liaison Program, crisis debriefing, and campus response planning. Working closely with the Senior Director, you’ll help drive data collection, budget planning, and strategic development for outreach services. You will also collaborate with CAPS leadership to conduct staff reviews and coordinate services across all areas of CAPS, supporting a culture of continuous growth.
 
In addition to providing clinical services and supervising therapists-in-training, you will develop and evaluate outreach programming and offer consultation to campus partners. What We Are Looking For
Education and Experience:

Required:
  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-approved program, with successful completion of a one-year doctoral internship OR 
  • Master’s degree (MA/MS or MSW) from an accredited program, plus three (3) years of professional experience 
  • Must be certified or licensed, or immediately license eligible, in the State of Indiana
  • Three (3) years of professional experience as a generalist therapist 
  • Doctoral psychology internship may be considered in lieu of one year of experience. 
  • Experience in outreach and consultation. 
 
Preferred:
  • Successful completion of a one-year doctoral internship from an APA-approved internship program
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience as a generalist therapist. 
  • Clinical experience in a university counseling center with young adults. 
  • Experience in all facets of work as a counseling center mental health professional. 
  • Experience leading a group.

Required:
  • Demonstrated strong general therapy skills with clear interest and experience in the college population, as well as experience and skill in a variety of clinical service modalities
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, ethical, legal and professional standards of practice
  • Independent judgement and discretion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to function well as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide positive leadership and administrative leadership
  • Ability to relate well to students, staff colleagues in other departments, faculty, and other members of the University community
