Description
We are seeking an Associate Marketing Manager to join our dynamic Children School & Library Marketing team to play a key role in the planning and execution of school & library conferences, managing a select number of awards submissions, writing copy for trade advertising, and leading the strategy for a monthly newsletter to teachers and librarians. This position will also work with a selection of bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators and collaborate with the wider marketing and publicity team to craft strategies for launching titles. The Associate Marketing Manager will report to the Associate Director of School & Library Marketing.

What you'll do:
  • Plan and execute a selection of school & library conferences each year
  • Handle all aspects of the strategy and creation of a monthly newsletter to teachers and librarians
  • Oversee a select number of award submissions
  • Work on a select number of title campaigns to develop title specific tactics to build buzz with teachers and librarians
  • Provide support at all national and regional school & library conferences, including travel ~4-5 times per year
  • Research new connections in the school & library market and create targeted emails to develop relationships
  • Work closely with the marketing & publicity team as well as authors, publishers, editors, and sales

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events
  • Ability to network with key contacts, including teachers and librarians, and invested interest in broadening relationships within the school & library market
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to show good judgment and decision-making ability when working with authors and colleagues.
  • Must be detailed-oriented, well-organized and able to manage multiple priorities and balance routine tasks along with long-term projects
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Must be comfortable in a collaborative team environment and be capable of multi-tasking while interacting with authors and contacts in and out of house.

Ideal Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in an event planning and/or marketing role
  • Previous publishing experience preferred but not required

This role will have an annual salary of $59,000-$65,000.
