Overview:
The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to provide financial management support for the Department of Psychology.
The business manager will serve as the primary financial consultant to department head and faculty, manage complex funding sources, and oversee oversees all business/administrative assistance and financial functions such as: budget preparation, budget reconciliation, data management, transaction review and control, financial reporting, and research administration.

Summary of Benefits 2024-2025 Responsibilities:
Financial & Budget Management:
- Oversees, manages, and reports on financial activities, transactions, and policies/procedures.
- Performs or oversees budget preparation, budget reconciliation, data management, and fiscal information support.
- Creates and maintains a comprehensive set of dashboard Excel reports that offer up-to-date insights into key financial metrics.
- Tracks contracts in support of student clinical experiences and proactively works to establish new contracts as needed.
- Reconciles and reviews financial statements to ensure accuracy in a timely manner.
Research Administration:
- Coordinates financial aspects of proposals, contracts, grants in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Primary consultant and liaison for department head, faculty, and university offices on financial, human resources, and operational matters.
- Supervise business assistant.
- Works effectively with department staff to maintain a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business field plus three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in research administration.
- Experience with USU’s Banner Finance system.
- Experience with USU’s Argos system, Finance dashboards
- Working knowledge of USU’s purchasing and/or human resources policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of USU operational policies.
- Experience working in a higher education academic department.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word including the ability in Excel to independently use formulas and pivot tables.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of finance enterprise systems and software.
- Computer skills, including Excel and Windows.
- Ability to train and lead staff.
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of contracting process and associated local, state, federal, and other regulations.
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
- Ability to develop professional materials with proper grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision, as well as collaboratively and dynamically in team-based settings.
- Ability to deal discreetly with highly confidential and sensitive information showing good judgement and decision-making skills.
