Chief Learning Officer
The Chief Learning Officer (CLO) is a strategic executive leader responsible for driving the intersection of learning, product experience, content, impact research, and technology to create transformative educational solutions. This role prioritizes impact for course takers and institutional partners by ensuring that ACUE's learning experiences are engaging, research-based, and seamlessly integrated with technology.

The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) is dedicated to ensuring student success through quality instruction. ACUE delivers the highest-quality courses, pathways, and certifications, with quick-to-implement practices that make a huge impact on student success. Instructors certified in ACUE’s Effective Teaching Practice Framework are proven to boost persistence and completion for students, improve faculty confidence and engagement, and help institutions meet their strategic goals. ACUE offers online courses that are delivered through institutional partnerships or via open enrollment and is higher education’s only provider of nationally recognized teaching certifications. 

 Key Responsibilities 
  • Learning & Product Experience: Define and execute the vision for best-in-class learning experiences that align with course taker and partner needs. 
  • Content Strategy & Development: Oversee the creation of high-quality instructional content, ensuring it is pedagogically sound, research-backed, and optimized for engagement. 
  • Learning Media & Video Production: Lead teams in producing compelling multimedia learning experiences, integrating video, interactive media, and digital storytelling. 
  • Research & Evaluations: Drive research and program evaluation strategies to measure impact, ensuring continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making. 
  • Product Management & Engineering: Lead product and engineering teams to develop scalable, user-centered learning platforms and tools that align to company vision. 
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Align learning, product, and technology teams to create a seamless, data-driven, and innovative learning ecosystem.

Skills and Experience 
  • 10+ years of experience in senior leadership roles. 
  • Minimum of an advanced degree required in Educational Leadership, Learning and Technology, Curriculum Design, or a related field; doctoral degree (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) preferred. 
  • Track record of leading teams in designing and delivering scalable, high-impact learning experiences — both in-person and digital. 
  • Proven leadership in faculty development, ideally in higher education or professional development environments. 
  • Deep understanding of pedagogy and learning science, with the ability to translate research into effective training programs for educators. 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working closely with product, content, technology, and research teams. 
  • Data-informed mindset, with experience using learning analytics, impact research, or outcomes-based evaluation to shape strategy and measure success.

Location 
This position is remote. Candidates must be able to travel up to 40%.
 
Compensation
We provide a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and responsibilities. This role is bonus-eligible with an anticipated compensation range of $200,000 –$300,000.
