Job Opening: Director, Direct-to-Consumer eCommerce Marketing
We are expanding our marketing team to include a Director of Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) eCommerce Marketing, who will lead our eCommerce sales and marketing efforts with a core focus on our flagship learning platforms and products. This role will be instrumental in amplifying our digital presence, ensuring that our high-quality educational and exam prep content reaches learners and professionals through our direct channels..
The Director will develop and execute a comprehensive DTC and B2C marketing strategy, optimizing website conversions, refining brand messaging, and leveraging data analytics to drive both immediate and sustained sales growth. Additionally, this role will oversee the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) enhancements on springerpub.com, utilize predictive analytics to ensure customer interactions and collaborate cross-functionally to align marketing initiatives with business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in eCommerce, website optimization, and data-driven marketing to create a seamless and high-converting digital storefront.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic DTC Marketing:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive DTC and B2C marketing roadmap to drive direct sales, increase market share, and advance Springer Publishing’s commitment to advancing health education and exam success.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new and innovative consumer acquisition and retention strategies across the DTC channels.
- Collaborate closely with product marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure that onsite campaigns and promotions are aligned with both our educational mission and sales objectives.
- Champion ecommerce capabilities that are required for new digital product rollout by translating the business sales goals into required enhancements, changes, or improvements to springerpub.com pages.
2. Website Conversion Optimization:
- Own the optimization of our digital storefront on springerpub.com by using the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) enhancements to ensure efficient and effective customer journeys and increased conversion rates.
- Develop programs for regular A/B testing initiatives and, in partnership with the technology team, implement ecommerce best practices and streamlined checkout processes.
- Lead predictive analytics to gain and leverage insights into customer behavior, continuously refining strategies that personalize the shopping experience and boost direct sales.
- Analyze website performance metrics and work cross-departmentally to innovative DTC and B2C digital experiences and optimize online capabilities.
3. Brand Messaging and Storytelling:
- Oversee Springer Publishing’s consumer branding, ensuring a consistent brand voice and identity across all consumers online touchpoints that resonate with both students and healthcare professionals.
- Work with Product and Digital Marketing to craft compelling storytelling initiatives that highlight the tangible impact our resources have on exam prep success and career progression.
4. Onsite Merchandising and Product Positioning
- Strategically manage onsite merchandising to spotlight key products, promotions, and learning platforms that best meet the needs of our diverse audience.
- Leverage customer data to curate personalized product recommendations, ensuring that every visitor finds the content most relevant to their educational and professional goals.
5. Data Analytics and Testing:
- Oversee advanced analytics tools to track website performance, customer engagement, and campaign effectiveness.
- Conduct in-depth analyses of conversion metrics and marketing strategies, using data-driven insights to continually refine our marketing efforts and drive sustainable sales growth.
- Implement a robust analytics program to track, report, and optimize key performance indicators—traffic, conversion rate, retention, CAC, and AOV—driving continuous improvement and data-informed decision making.
Qualifications & Experience
- eCommerce & Marketing Experience: 10+ years of experience in eCommerce and DTC/B2C marketing
- Conversion Optimization Expertise: Proven expertise in developing programs that increase website conversion rate optimization (CRO) and A/B testing.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of eCommerce and CRM operations and platforms (Magento, Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Analytics), UX/UI best practices, and digital marketing strategies.
- Predictive Analytics Proficiency: Proven experience implementing and driving predictive analytics in consumer marketing, including customer segmentation, personalization, pricing/discount optimization, and shopping cart optimization.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar) and data-driven decision-making.
- Storytelling & Branding: Excellent storytelling, branding, and content strategy skills.
- Self-Starter with Strong Cross-Functional Collaboration: ability to work both independently and cross-functionally and drive results in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the education or health publishing industry is a plus.
Travel
- Must be local and able to travel to our Princeton, NJ office as required.
Work Schedule
- Hybrid role with three days in the office and travel to Princeton, NJ office as needed.
Management of Others
- This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities.
