About the Team  

The College Readiness Assessments ("CRA") division is a team of mission-driven people who deliver the SAT Suite of Assessments (SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT10, and PSAT 8/9) to millions of students across the world each year to help open their paths to life after high school. The SAT Suite connects students to a wide range of post-high school opportunities, including scholarships, careers, and colleges and universities. In 2023, we retired the use of paper/pencil testing and are now a fully digital SAT Suite offering an assessment that is easier to give, easier to take, more secure, and more relevant. 
The Director, Market Development Project Manager will be a part of the newly founded SAT Suite Market Development and Engagement team responsible for our market and sales strategy, stakeholder engagement, and SAT Suite messaging. With the transition of the SAT Suite to digital assessments now complete, we are establishing this team to lead how we present the SAT Suite and its mission and benefits to stakeholders (K-12, Higher ED, students and families, media, etc.), with the goal of driving its continued growth as we seek to deliver on our mission for as many students and schools as possible.

About the Opportunity   

As the Director, Market Development Project Manager, you are energized by the opportunity to project manage our market and sales strategy. You are highly organized, a masterful planner, and proactive in communications. You have proven experience managing many internal stakeholders with competing priorities against a shared goal which will enable our team to achieve and exceed volume, revenue, and retention goals for districts and states who bring the SAT Suite and its benefits to students. You excel in connecting the details to big-picture strategy and execution. You will develop and then use your deep understanding of our internal teams and external stakeholders, as well as the programs we deliver, to continue to refine our process for managing our RFP process and pursuit of new business. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

You will report directly to the Executive Director, Market Development. 

In this role, you will:  
Project Management (80%) 
  • Lead project management efforts of a nimble cross-functional team that amplifies existing state strategy to drive new, large-scale wins.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and manage project teams comprised of leaders and executives, ensuring all members are aligned with project objectives and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Communicate project status, progress, and any changes to stakeholders and team members.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement and implement lessons learned.
Market and Sales Strategy Support (20%):
  • Ensure executive-level stakeholder engagements in states are successful by tracking timelines coordinating with cross-divisional stakeholders.
  • Support with the development of briefing materials for executive-level stakeholder engagement in key states as needed.
  • Lead pre-RFP engagement strategies and processes that position us for success when the RFP launches. Amplify and support the work of the Director, Proposal Development once the RFP is launched to ensure timely and accurate submissions.

You You have: 
  • 5+ years of proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects
  • Experience working with senior leaders on complex projects
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong bias to action and sense of urgency that inspires others to move rapidly in new ways with our key state targets
  • A passion for supporting educational and career opportunities for millions of students
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to easily connect the dots to enroll cross-functional teams to best support CRA’s focus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello)
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is preferred, with strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools
  • Familiarity with the K-12 assessment landscape, trends, and market (preferred)
  • Ability to travel domestically 2-3 times a quarter to external client sites and College Board offices
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $80,000 to $130,000. College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
