Position Summary:
Working closely with the Assistant Dean of Student Life & Services, provide leadership and direction on the strategy, policy-making, operation, and development of comprehensive and coordinated career development programming, resources, and services for Tandon undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni. Cultivate and manage internal institutional collaborations with central career services) and departments throughout the University. Develop strong partnerships throughout Tandon, including with the academic departments, to create targeted and specialized programs and services that cater to the unique needs, interests, and goals of Tandon students. Position will provide guidance to the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) leadership to help develop it in coordination with the Tandon Career Hub and Tandon’s curricular programs. Continually develop external industry partnerships. Supervise all programming, resources, and communications including employer recruiting activities and career education programs. Provide career coaching to Tandon students (undergraduate and graduate) and recent alumni. Lead assessment initiatives, conduct external and internal analyses, and report on outcomes. Manage budget and lead and develop staff.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in higher education/student affairs administration, counseling, human resources, or related fields.
Required Experience:
7+ years in career development, operations management, counseling, or human resources. Must include experience in managing staff, employer relations, implementing services/programs and events, career planning, assessment, and job search expertise.
Preferred Experience:
7+ years Career services experience in an academic environment with STEM students preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Management and strategic planning. Job development and employer relations, leadership, hiring, and training experience. Career planning, assessment, and job search expertise. Excellent communication, presentation, writing and organizational skills required. Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships. Strong attention to detail and sense of professional integrity. Ability and desire to work with a diverse population at all levels. Knowledge of STEM careers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media tools is required.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with STEM-oriented industries and professions preferred. Familiarity with Handshake, Symplicity, Brazen or other relationship management databases is a plus. Good judgment and time management skills.
Additional Information:
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $100,000.00 to USD $140,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
