Engineering Manager Full Description

We are seeking a hands-on leader with a track record of successfully shipping complex enterprise SaaS solutions to manage one or more of our high-performing Agile engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and run one of our engineering teams, comprised of 3-10 developers. 
    • Run the team's daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, refinement, and retrospective meetings.
    • Provide code review and feedback on code changes.
    • Assign tasks to engineers.
    • Communicate to product team bandwidth and availability.
  • Ensure your teams ship quality code on time consistently, while also improving upon the stability and performance of the application.
  • Partner with your technology lead and our senior staff to own the technology strategy and long-term technical roadmap for your teams.
  • Partner with your product owner to develop the long-term roadmap and ensure the right mix of feature development, quality improvements, and tech debt investments.
  • Own the reporting on core quality and delivery metrics.
  • Be responsible for the long-term career growth, 1-1s, and day-to-day feedback of your team members. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that your team processes are efficient and add value, and for creating a great engineering culture.
  • Own the hiring of developers and QA engineers for your teams.
  • Jump in and work as needed in a hands-on, full-stack capacity to design, build, and maintain our product.
  • Use a variety of technologies including Vue, Node.js, AWS, Mongo, and more to accomplish your goals.
  • Contribute to education, product documentation, and support for the broader Coursedog organization, including interfacing with our Customer Success and Sales teams.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience and 2+ hands-on technical management experience.
  • Been actively involved in setting product roadmaps and product strategy.
  • Experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in computer science or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Exceptional coding abilities and experience with Node.js, express, Vue, or MongoDb.
  • Experience with deploying new products
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS products
