SUMMARY:
The University Financial Aid Administrator is a remote University Administration position to assist SU Ground campuses with working financial aid appointments and other campus needs in times of staffing shortages. Under the guidance of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Financial Aid (AVCFA), this position will assist with the development and implementation of training initiatives within the Student Financial Services Department and will assist with delivering new hire training and transitioning newly hired Financial Aid Advisors (FAA’s).
Incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy/ culture is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position: quality services to students; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
1. Specialize in and assist with the packaging of new, continuing, and re-instated CAP program students (Pharmacy, Anesthesia Science, and Physician Assistant), providing a higher customer service (white glove) experience and improve accuracy in packaging. Increase packaging knowledge for all offered ground programs and float between campuses during times of need, completing virtual appointments for new, continuing, and re-entry students. Assists with the campus oversight and monitoring through reports and system reviews.
2. Under the guidance of the AVCFA, assist with the development of training materials for Financial Aid Advisors and Financial Aid Processors related to the policies and procedures of South University. Assist with the creation of materials (including but not limited to compliance and training materials) and assists with maintaining the Financial Aid SharePoint site. Ensures that the system is compliant overall with all department policies.
3. Assists with conducting training (in conjunction with the Senior Directors, Directors and Managers) for new employees on all key financial aid categories including: FAFSA, financial aid packaging, document collection, payment plan options, CashNet, BankMobile, financial aid policies/procedures, and compliance. Also shares responsibility for training on all applicable financial aid systems.
4. Provides feedback and instruction to Directors of Financial Aid and Finance Managers on how well they are implementing their new hire training and how to improve upon providing new hire training with an emphasis on Financial Aid competencies achieved.
5. Develop reports to measure and monitor metrics to identify opportunities and provide additional follow-up training for new hires and additional staff as necessary.
6. Work with key Financial Aid Leaders to conduct a training needs analysis, prepare system training and assemble user guides.
7. Required Travel: Up to 50% as needed.
8. Training support for online and campuses as needed.
9. Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum five years working in financial aid.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.
• Superior organization, prioritization, self-motivation, and computer skills. MS Office Suite.
• Ability to organize, conduct and evaluate internal training programs and select and create materials and appropriate delivery methods for programs on a variety of topics.
• Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
• Ability to adapt to changing assignments, multiple priorities, multiple tasks, and successfully meet deadlines.
