Welcome to the video-first world
From your everyday PowerPoint presentations to Hollywood movies, AI will transform the way we create and consume content. Today, people want to watch and listen, not read — both at home and at work. If you’re reading this and nodding, check out our brand video.

Despite the clear preference for video, communication and knowledge sharing in the business environment are still dominated by text, largely because high-quality video production remains complex and challenging to scale—until now…

Meet Synthesia
We're on a mission to make video easy for everyone. Born in an AI lab, our AI video communications platform simplifies the entire video production process, making it easy for everyone, regardless of skill level, to create, collaborate, and share high-quality videos. Whether it's for delivering essential training to employees and customers or marketing products and services, Synthesia enables large organizations to communicate and share knowledge through video quickly and efficiently. We’re trusted by leading brands such as Heineken, Zoom, Xerox, McDonald’s, and more. Read stories from happy customers, what 1,200+ people say on G2 and being named as one of the "Top Startups to Bet Your Career On" in 2025!

In 2023, we were one of 7 European companies to reach unicorn status. In February 2024, G2 named us as the fastest growing company in the world. In 2025 we announced our series D funding. In total we’ve raised over $330M in funding from top-tier investors, including NEA, Atlassian Ventures, WiL, PSP Growth, and existing investors such as Accel, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, GV and top founders and operators including Stripe, Datadog, Miro, Webflow, and Facebook.

The Role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Instructional Designer who eats, sleeps, and breathes great content. This isn’t just a job, it’s an opportunity to become the cornerstone of our Synthesia Academy. You’ll be the creative force behind engaging learning experiences that empower our diverse customer base, from the uninitiated to the power users. In our dynamic, startup‐within‐a‐startup environment, you’ll have the freedom to experiment, iterate, and innovate, all while working shoulder-to-shoulder with a team that’s as passionate about solving unsolved problems as you are.
  • Run the Academy: Run the Synthesia Academy by keeping content fresh, aligned with product updates, and engaging for learners.
  • Create & Iterate: Develop and refine learning materials—videos, interactive modules, and guides—through a cycle of prototyping, feedback, and improvement.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to gather insights, ensuring content meets real customer needs and aligns with business goals.
  • Facilitate & Advocate: Develop and host live sessions to engage users, share best practices, and collect feedback.

About you
  • You’re an early- to mid-career instructional designer with a passion for “making stuff” that works. Here’s what resonates with our team:
    - A Hands-On Creator: You love building content from the ground up. You’re not satisfied with one-size-fits-all solutions; you dig deep to understand what learners need at every stage of their journey.
    - Customer-Obsessed: You’re a Synthesia user at heart. You live and breathe the experience you’re designing, ensuring that your work bridges the gap between marketing appeal and real-world experience and impact.
    - Iterative & Resilient: You thrive on challenges. If you get frustrated by unsolved problems, you see it as an opportunity to innovate.
    - A Collaborative Spirit: You value open dialogue, feedback, and brainstorming. In our team, ideas flow freely and every voice counts—from the visionary big ideas to the nitty-gritty details that make all the difference.
    - Growth-Minded: Whether you’re focused on deepening your craft as a content creator or eyeing future leadership as our team scales, you’re excited by the prospect of growing alongside us. (And yes, our academy is just the beginning!)
  • Proven experience in instructional design and development, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates your ability to create clear, engaging, and effective learning experiences.
  • Hands-on expertise with tools like Articulate Storyline or Rise, Camtasia, or Captivate—showing that you’ve been in the trenches making real content.
  • A solid grasp of instructional design frameworks , adult learning principles and a knack for applying them in practical, iterative ways.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
