Instructional Designer–Higher Ed: Moodle & Canvas Full Description

Job Description
Six Red Marbles is specifically seeking freelance instructional designers (IDs) with experience using Moodle, Canvas, and other LMSs to create higher ed courses. Experience in course design or teaching in a higher education setting is highly desirable.

The freelance ID works in conjunction with the Six Red Marbles Learning Experience Design team to create superior learning experiences for our college and university clients. The ID knows how to align a customer’s needs and goals with educational and technological best practices and can confidently communicate with and guide a higher ed client with a strong product while meeting high quality standards and time/budget requirements.

Responsibilities
Functions as an ID to develop higher ed courses:
  • Plans and executes design and development work on complex course and content development projects.
  • Leads meetings effectively.
  • Supports faculty SMEs in the development of content.
  • Adheres to established schedules and timelines.
Leverages the following skills to execute project work:
  • Client facing – Drives conversations with clients and participates in design efforts with SMEs, faculty, and other client stakeholders.
  • Collaborative – Actively contributes to teamwork and dynamic.
  • Initiative – Accepts new challenges in the spirit of gaining experience and developing new skills.
  • Independent – Actively seeks out resources and develops problem-solving skills to work independently within the scope of work.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with Moodle or Canvas
ONE of the following combinations of education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any field plus at least 5 years of ID experience, or
  • Master’s degree or higher in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field plus at least 3 years of ID experience, or
  • Ph.D in any field plus at least 4 years of ID experience, or
  • Ed.D in instructional design , adult learning or a related filed plus at least 3 years of ID experience
