Summary:
The instructional designer will develop and assess training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Create and update product training courses and support solutions, in accordance with design standards.
- Takes part in skill assessments to identify training or development needs, and requirements.
- Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum.
- May collaborate with cross functional staff, vendors and customers, to provide design of training materials.
- Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks.
- Writes outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study.
- Evaluates software and collaboration tools to be selected for training.
- Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Participates in product development process, support plans and product training deliverables development.
- Studies product changes and continually improves knowledge to maintain assigned products and courses.
- Monitors student satisfaction through review of student survey data and verbal feedback.
- May assist with the maintenance of classroom, lab, and equipment to ensure that all are in working order to fully support the delivery of training.
- Supports eLearning team members with the design and development of effective instructional web modules.
- Engages the end-to-end development cycle from supporting defined learning objectives to deploying final eLearning modules on an LMS.
- Participate in the review process of all new e-learning courses.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, or related technical field.
- 2-4 years of demonstrated experience in technical instructional design and development.
- Detail oriented, independent performer, with a passion for customer service.
- Able to analyze complex technical information and identify underlying concepts used to facilitate learning.
- Familiarity with authoring software such as Storyline 360.
- Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
- Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
- Ability to communicate clearly in giving presentations and with fellow colleagues.
- The ability to travel to customer sites or technical conferences may occasionally be required (<10%).
