Description
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is key in helping customers modernize their training programs by designing and developing immersive learning solutions using HTX Labs’ EMPACT software. This position drives EMPACT product usage and adoption by working closely with customers to align training content with mission-critical performance objectives.

The ISD will report to the Director of Instructional Systems Design and collaborate across multiple departments—including Product, Customer Support, Project Management, and Business Development—to ensure the seamless integration of EMPACT into customer environments. Additionally, this role will monitor customer satisfaction and ensure that users derive maximum value from the EMPACT platform and HTX Labs’ services, providing ongoing support and insight to optimize learning outcomes and long-term success.

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring three days onsite at Sheppard AFB and two days of remote work each week. Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Drive adoption, usage, implementation, and evaluation of EMPACT VR software within customer training environments.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of EMPACT capabilities and features, with the ability to guide customers through immersive lesson creation, deployment, and long-term sustainment.
  • Advise customers on integrating EMPACT into their training workflows, including curriculum design and technology implementation strategies.
  • Gather customer feedback, feature requests, and insights for future product development.
  • Build strong relationships with customers to help them maximize the value of EMPACT and align product use with their training objectives.
  • Implement immersive content standards and best practices to ensure quality and consistency across VR lessons and modules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Customer Support, Project Management, and Business Development, to support the successful deployment and adoption of EMPACT.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders such as curriculum development managers, instructors, subject matter experts, students, and project leads to support the design and delivery of effective training solutions.
  • Represent and uphold HTX Labs' core values in all interactions and deliverables.
  • Communicate HTX Labs’ mission and ensure EMPACT’s value aligns with each customer’s training goals and objectives.
  • Monitor, collect, and report on customer satisfaction metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.

Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning theory applied to immersive and experiential learning.
  • Experience utilizing authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, and others to create blended and complementary content.
  • Understanding Learning Management Systems (LMS), SCORM/xAPI standards, and how immersive content integrates with traditional eLearning.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into user-friendly learning content.
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills to align with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Analytical and solution-oriented thinker, capable of translating insights into actionable improvements for training and product use.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Education, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, training development, or related roles.
  • Proven experience designing and developing engaging learning content using instructional design models such as ADDIE or SAM.
  • Proven experience implementing training and instructional technology solutions into structured learning environments, with a strong understanding of adult learning theory.
  • Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate), LMS platforms, and interoperability standards such as SCORM and xAPI.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government-issued Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Experience teaching, training, or facilitating in a classroom setting is a plus.
  • Experience working in Aerospace & Defense markets is a plus.

Work Location: Hybrid, three days onsite at Sheppard AFB and two days remote work each week
