The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

Job Description
Job Profile Summary
The Internal Communications Representative supports communication strategies and tactics aimed at engaging and informing University employee audiences, enabling them to support our students and our mission. This role will build strong relationships and work closely with different teams and leaders across the university to develop audience-focused strategies and content. The Representative will put communication plans into action by creating compelling written and visual communications for multiple audiences and will use a variety of channels including email newsletters and the department employee intranet. This role will work effectively with teammates and internal stakeholders to solve complex problems, will adapt quickly when needed, and will support projects outside of the core role to accomplish objectives that advance the department’s mission and vision.
Location: This position requires you to live in Utah and work at our headquarters: 4001 South 700 East Salt Lake City, UT 84107, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule in the office 4 days a week with one day remote.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborates with individuals and teams to develop and integrate communication plans that support department initiatives.
- Develops strategies to foster and measure employee engagement.
- Creates content for newsletters, emails, presentations, monthly town halls, and the employee intranet.
- Plans and implements the town halls, all hands, and other events throughout the year.
- Edits and proofreads content for accuracy, appropriateness, and grammar while ensuring the content meets internal communications best practices and follows our style guides.
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures relating to internal communications.
- Manages projects that support internal communications.
- Supports special initiatives as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Superior writing skills.
- Knowledge of Intranet applications and other content management systems.
- Ability to take complex information and create audience-specific content that is comprehendible, memorable, and has a measurable impact.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with individuals and teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate appropriate resources and involve partners when appropriate.
- Self-directed with a strong tendency for action. Able to take initiative and act independently within the assigned discipline, designated special projects and/or initiatives.
- Ability to solicit and share feedback openly, listen with empathy, and approach conflict proactively.
- Skilled at adapting to changing timelines and plans. Comfortable with ambiguity.
- Ability to assert self appropriately and champion ideas, as well as motivate and inspire others.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Organizational Development, or a related field of study
Experience
- 3 years of related writing and editing experience
Experience in lieu of education
Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is at the discretion of the hiring manager.
