Join our dynamic team at NC Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) as a Junior Instructional Designer, collaborating with the Workforce Development Manager, Workforce Development Specialist II, HR, and other work units of NCDIT. This is a fantastic opportunity to dive into the complex and meaningful program area of workforce development, where you’ll be instrumental in developing and distributing surveys, needs assessments, and coordinating various projects and documentation. Your creative flair will shine as you create engaging graphics, media, and written content for instructional design projects, all while providing vital facilitation support.
The Junior Instructional Designer will serve as an apprentice for the Workforce Development Program as a pathway to staff development career opportunities. You’ll be at the heart of our Workforce Development program, working closely with a diverse team to support the accomplishment of key objectives. You’ll have the chance to develop your skills in training development, adult learning theories, and instructional design methodology, making this an excellent entry point for those looking to make a significant impact in workforce development. Duties include, but are not limited, to:
- In-person, hybrid, and virtual facilitation of adult learning
- Instructional design
- Using software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate360, Office365, and survey software to support instructional design
- Creating and distributing surveys
- Managing rosters and learning assignments in the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Creating presentations and reports
- Testing learning products prior to release
- Developing creative content including video content

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Experience supporting the delivery and/or development of training sessions
- Experience developing and/or modifying creative content
- Experience with support tasks such as training roster management, learning assignments, creating and distributing surveys and document preparation, preferably in workforce development
The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
- Software experience in any of the following areas: Adobe Creative Cloud, Acrobat, Articulate360, Camtasia, Smartsheet or similar software applications
- Experience developing and/or modifying creative content for online modules, presentations, interactive products and/or marketing initiatives
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an ‘equivalent combination of education and experience.’ If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required
OR
3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill posted positions. Hiring salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
