Reporting to PowerSchool’s Chief of Staff, the Lead Data Scientist will create, update and deliver a wide range of functional dashboards and reports, as required by the CEO and Chief of Staff’s organization.  The primary objective of these tools is to provide insight and predictive analytics, allowing for better business decisions. Additionally, the reporting provided will assist with ongoing monitoring of our business initiatives and transformational projects.  The incumbent will  enable and support PowerSchool’s strategic business planning efforts by effectively analyzing, interpreting and presenting the data. , The incumbent will work closely with the Chief of Staff to provide timely delivery, and regular updates, to all levels of PowerSchool’s leadership team.

Data scientists are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to help drive decision-making in the organization.

Using advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning and predictive modeling, the data scientist role combines elements of several traditional and technical jobs, including mathematician, scientist, statistician, and computer programmer.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Maintain, enhance, and update operational dashboards that are critical to business monitoring and decision making for the executive and the senior leadership teams.
  • Make recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis.
  • Under the guidance of the Chief of Staff, update, track and deliver reports and dashboards for new business metrics, as required by leadership. 
  • Utilize data wrangling capabilities to clean data, eliminate errors, and manipulate or combine data sets. 
  • Create impressive executive-level PowerPoint presentations and present the findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Access source data to feed into Excel, Domo and other tools in use, which may change from time to time.
  • Create and deliver ad-hoc reports and/or analysis with ease.
  • Partner, liaise and coordinate with multiple functions and stakeholders across the Company.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in data-related subjects (i.e. Data Science, Statistics, Science, Social Science, etc.) or relevant years of experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role or a Master’s degree in a directly related field
  • Solid experience using tools, designing dashboards and architecting data reporting systems, across multiple data sources
  • Experience and expertise in synthesizing data insights and presenting to key decision makers to inform business decisions
  • Capable of efficiently identifying, analyzing, prioritizing and escalating issues, as required
  • Experience with data wrangling and data management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tools such as Excel, Snowball, Salesforce, and Domo are highly preferred
  • Ability to be effective working both independently and as part of a larger team
  • Knowledge of statistics and probability strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills (both oral and written)

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $121,200 - $163,700 USD. This compensation range is specific to the United States and it incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; specific geographic location; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
