Overview:
The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering training programs that support employee development and organizational goals. This includes conducting in-person training sessions (ILT) for store associates on leadership curriculum, company policies, operational procedures, and technical systems. The role involves assessing training needs, creating learning materials, providing coaching and feedback, maintaining training records, and visiting stores to onboard newly hired managers. Collaboration with operations, HR and other teams is key to ensuring training is aligned with business objectives and employee performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have a college degree in business or related field
- 3 or more years of experience in a training environment. Grocery retail experience preferred

- Extremely organized and exceptionally detail-oriented.
- Can operate autonomously and have a “get stuff done” mentality.

- Able to prioritize your work and pivot as needed based on the needs of new hires and the L&D team in a given day.
- LMS experience preferred
- Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently.
- Proficient with computer and Microsoft applications.
- Successful completion of pre-employment/promotion drug screen and or criminal background check.
Travel: This position requires travel and will support 5-6 stores within Massachusetts.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the management team and associates to assess training needs and stay informed on updates to policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives, and technologies.
- Facilitate in-person training sessions on various topics such as leadership development, product knowledge, and more.
- Support organizational growth by contributing to the Management Trainee Program.
- Offer coaching and guidance to emerging leaders, assisting with their individual development plans and career progression.
- Deliver implementation and knowledge-based training in both technical and operational areas.
- Oversee the successful completion of the onboarding program for new hires.
- Guide new associates through the online training platform, ensuring completion of required modules and a smooth transition into their roles through coordinated, department-specific on-the-job training.
- Provide training on basic Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Intranet tools.
- Instruct on internal software systems such as UKG, Periscope, Category Analyzer, and other relevant platforms.
Instructional Design Requirements:
• Assist creating or modifying course materials
• Implement new training programs
• Use course evaluations
• Make recommendations for improvements for existing courses
Technical Writing Requirements:
• Update SharePoint site (contributor)
• Assist in creating reference materials and Manuals
• Training Guides, Job Aids, and Online documentation
• Use the standard draft and review guidelines for the Training Department
Administrative Requirements:
• Complete Training Tracking of new hires in the Intranet System
• Progress Notes / Feedback to Training and Ops management team
• Weekly reporting
Additional job functions
• Work with the operations team, as needed, to stay up-to-date on the day to day business operations
• Sit side-by-side with new hires and provide feedback, as needed
• Practice the “Golden Rule” and work well with all associates as a team.
