Position: Field Sales Manager – Illinois 

Purpose of the Role: 
The Field Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales and profit objectives within the assigned territory by hiring, training, and developing a high-performing sales team. This role focuses on managing the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) team of Account Executives while also serving as a Key Accounts Liaison to drive growth in select accounts across the region. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Sales Strategy & Pipeline Management
    • Oversee and develop an accurate sales pipeline, ensuring strong forecasting and successful deal closures.
    • Create and execute a strategic marketing plan for the assigned territory based on market opportunities, customer needs, and past performance.
    • Maintain relationships with key district stakeholders to stay informed about purchasing cycles and educational needs.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead and coach a team of Account Executives, setting clear objectives and providing ongoing feedback.
    • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, 1:1 coaching sessions, and field observations to support sales performance.
    • Attract, develop, motivate, and retain top sales talent.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnerships
    • Foster collaboration between sales, Customer Success, Curriculum Support, Services, Marketing, and Product teams to drive revenue growth.
    • Work closely with Account Executives and Account Managers in key accounts outside CPS to expand HMH’s footprint.
  • Operational & Financial Oversight
    • Manage the team’s budget and approve expense reports for direct reports.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and sales best practices.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of sales experience with a proven track record of meeting quotas.
  • Sales Management experience strongly preferred
  • Educational sales experience and knowledge of Chicago Public Schools strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce (or similar CRM).
  • Willingness to travel 60-70% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
