Job Summary  | The Manager of Marketing & Communications directs marketing efforts for University-wide Career Services, ranging from digital design and social media to the development of data-driven campaigns and an ecosystem-wide marketing strategy. As part of a talented and highly collaborative team of ten professionals, the Manager formulates and executes marketing and communications plans to reach students, internal campus partners, and external partners to achieve department and University goals.The Marketing Manager supervises one graphic designer and associated student interns to prioritize:· Creative and ambitious problem solving· Clear and thorough messaging· Accessible and compelling design· Effective processes and communication· Data-informed decisions· Respect and adaptability· Timeliness

Responsibilities  | Under direction of the University Career Success Senior Director for Marketing & Communications, the Manager oversees the following list of responsibilities, which is not comprehensive, but intended to highlight the key themes of the role:
Strategy· Develops, implements, and continuously refines a comprehensive marketing strategy that promotes University Career Services (including campaigns for its programs, services, events, etc.) to its target audiences (including students, staff/faculty, employers, and community partners) through various channels (digital, in-person, publications, direct messages, etc.)· Works with leadership to develop and grow Career Service’s brand in alignment with its mission, vision, and values· Informs all strategies and campaigns with relevant data· Prepares monthly and annual reports to track progress and measure the effectiveness of department effortsDesign & Content· Designs, or manages the design of, all marketing materials in a timely manner· Manages the University Careers website, ensuring its value and ease of use to target audiences· Initiates and creates needed content for marketing and media materials including targeting, writing, and editingOperations· Manages a marketing calendar to ensure the timely completion of self- and staff-directed projects and campaigns· Ensures campaign materials are released and distributed to appropriate campus partners in a timely manner· Manages related web-based design
· Develops and maintains processes that promote smooth coordination of team and partner efforts, including managing Trello or similar toolsSupervision & Leadership· Supervises full-time and part-time marketing staff, ensuring the timeliness and quality of their work and providing regular reviews of their performanceFunctional Responsibilities· Campaign development and assessment· Website management and design· Promotional materials· Graphic design· Coordination with social media manager· Public relations requests· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications  | Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5+ years related experience in marketing strategy, content creation, communications, and managing people and projects.
