Description of Work  | The Membership and Development Coordinator plays a critical role in raising operating funds and engaging member/donor communities with Sheldon Museum of Art. This position is responsible for all aspects of managing and building the Sheldon Art Association (SAA) membership program including: providing excellent customer service; strategic planning and growth; planning and implementing engaging member events; developing effective communication and marketing strategies; and increasing member renewal, retention, upgrades, and acquisition. The position is responsible for managing the member/donor database, including processing acknowledgements and payments. The Membership and Development Coordinator provides critical support to development program activities including special events, annual campaigns and prospect research. It also serves as an administrative liaison to the SAA board of trustees.

Minimum Required Qualifications  | Associate’s degree in liberal arts, business or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience in fundraising or marketing required; equivalent education/experience considered. High emotional intelligence and proven ability to forge mutually respectful, trusting, and effective relationships with a diverse group of staff, donors, artists, and volunteers, community leaders, and decision makers. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, proactively, and creatively. Must be proficient in computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database experience. Ability to keep a flexible schedule (including occasional evenings and weekends), work with a diverse constituency, and work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business, nonprofit administration communication or related field. 3 years experience in fundraising and/or membership. Experience with SalesForce software. Experience working with a nonprofit board.
