About the Opportunity
As a Principal Business Enterprise Architect at Ellucian, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technology modernization across higher education. The Enterprise Architect supports our global enterprise architecture practice to build and enable our capability-based delivery models that drive modernization engagements across our client initiatives. Serving as the overall enterprise architecture thought leader for our Managed Transformation Services teams, the Principal Business Enterprise Architect uses the global higher education reference models to align the customer’s strategic initiatives to the capabilities required to achieve those goals through the industry standard business processes enabled by Ellucian solutions.

Where you will make an impact
  • Strategic Alignment: Lead the strategic alignment of customer modernization engagements by modeling a customer’s strategic initiatives to the capabilities required to achieve those goals through the industry standard business processes enabled by Ellucian solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including solution architects, change management agents, services delivery consultants, product managers, project managers and others to support successful customer modernization engagements.
  • Architecture Design: Collaborate with the broader enterprise architecture team and cross-organizational stakeholders to contribute to development of Ellucian’s global higher education capability model to ensure it is adaptable, scalable and meets the evolving needs of higher education institutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of architectural designs, standards, and best practices for internal and client use.
  • Key engagements for the Enterprise Architect include:
  • Collaborating with other Services Innovation leadership to support the initiatives that are building new outcomes-based delivery practices.
  • Coordinating with Product/R&D as necessary to ensure alignment with capability delivery by region.
  • Ensuring effective construction of enterprise architecture service engagements aimed at achievement of customers' desired outcomes.
  • Providing thought leadership, best practices and higher ed industry knowledge into enterprise architecture focused practices.
  • Developing related materials and artifacts that drive and support the new enterprise architecture services, where appropriate.
  • Proactively engaging with global service delivery peers to assess effectiveness of new enterprise architecture services.
  • Fulfilling the broader mission of global Services as it relates to global scale.
  • Working collaboratively with the Services team to develop and/or improve strategies, policies, and processes; support and promote the use of new delivery methodologies and best practices.
  • Understanding the global Services marketplace and delivery best practices.
  • Where appropriate, establishing delivery compliance and assurance metrics and measurements along with monitoring practices.

What will you bring
  • Experience – in business, technology or a higher education related field is required.
  • 5+ years experience as an Enterprise Architect or equivalent type role, within higher education is a plus.
  • Preferred in-depth knowledge of higher education technology trends, challenges, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
  • Proficiency in cloud computing, data architecture, and software development methodologies.
  • Positive, self-motivated, team-oriented individual with the ability and desire to innovate, create, and develop delivery methodologies that have the capability of transforming the effectiveness of higher education.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills supported by proven action and follow-through using strong time and project management skills.
  • Superior interpersonal, written and oral communications skills with an emphasis on collaboration.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Archimate) are a plus.
