Job Description
The Project Manager V is a senior-level project management professional responsible for overseeing complex, cross-functional projects and initiatives within the organization. This role ensures best practices are used across teams and serves as a mentor and resource to other project managers. The Project Manager V is expected to have a broad view of work across their assigned area, providing strategic coordination and ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational priorities. This individual monitors project risks, tracks milestones, and synthesizes project updates into clear, high-level reports for stakeholders and leadership. They also play a key role in developing dashboards and performance metrics using tools such as Microsoft Power BI to support data-driven decision-making. This position requires strong project management expertise, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset to effectively coordinate across teams and drive successful outcomes.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
  • Plays a critical role in monitoring and staying informed on multiple projects across the assigned area, ensuring strategic alignment, cross-functional coordination, and recognizing dependencies to proactively connect project teams when needed.
  • Manages all phases of assigned projects, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing.
  • Develops and maintains dashboards and reporting tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide leadership with visibility into project progress, leveraging Microsoft Power BI.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Project for project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Synthesizes and presents project updates in a clear and concise manner for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying areas for efficiency and recommending process enhancements.
  • Leverages change management methodologies and product management skillsets to drive adoption, optimize processes, and ensure the successful implementation of initiatives across the organization.
  • Keeps project management records and systems up to date, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Ensures effective communication and collaboration across project teams, regularly facilitating meetings and discussions, including with senior leadership, to drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Supports budget allocation and tracking for the department in collaboration with finance business partners, ensuring effective financial oversight and alignment with departmental priorities as needed.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource for project managers and team members, sharing best practices and supporting professional growth.
  • Leads and facilitates project coalitions or subject matter expert (SME) workgroups within the department, ensuring cross-functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong project management expertise with experience in traditional and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to mentor and support project managers while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and coordination skills, including experience preparing high-level reports and executive summaries.
  • Proficiency in developing dashboards and tracking key performance metrics using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and prioritize work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project for project scheduling and management.

Education            
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, Scrum Master, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience managing cross-functional projects in a large and distributed organization (5,000+ employees).
  • Proficiency in project tracking, reporting, and data visualization tools, including Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Project.

Experience
  • 10 or more years of related experience.
Experience in lieu of education
Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements.  Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience developing and maintaining executive dashboards and reports.
  • Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience.
  • Experience in higher education or enterprise business operations.
  • Familiarity with program or product lifecycle management systems.

Position & Application Details
