About the role
We’re seeking an SDR Leader – Player-Coach who thrives on driving results and developing talent. In this dual role, you’ll lead a team of Sales Development Representatives while actively participating in outreach efforts, setting the tone for excellence and execution. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on building and scaling a high-performing SDR team in a mission-driven company.

As the SDR Leader, you’ll work closely with the sales, marketing, and revenue operations teams to ensure alignment on goals, strategies, and processes. You’ll also have a hands-on role in identifying new opportunities, optimizing outreach strategies, and mentoring your team to achieve and exceed targets.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Act as a mentor and coach, providing training, feedback, and development opportunities to maximize individual and team performance.
  • Lead by example through active participation in prospecting, outreach, and pipeline generation.
  • Develop and refine sales scripts, email templates, and call strategies tailored to our target market (K-12 education).
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to refine prospecting strategies and ensure pipeline coverage aligns with revenue goals.
  • Implement data-driven strategies to improve outreach effectiveness and team productivity.
  • Share insights with leadership on trends, challenges, and opportunities in the market.

What you’ll need
  • Experience: 3+ years in sales or sales development, with at least 6 months to 1 year in a leadership or player-coach role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in SaaS, EdTech, or selling to public sector/education organizations is a strong plus.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams while maintaining a hands-on approach.
  • Sales Acumen: Track record of exceeding sales targets and driving pipeline growth through effective outreach strategies.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse stakeholders.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), sales engagement platforms (e.g., Gong), and analytics tools.
  • Onsite Presence: Must be willing and able to work onsite at our downtown Oakland office.

Salary Range: $155k On Target Earnings - Compensation will be based on experience
