Description | Reporting to the Chair of the department, the Senior Accounts Specialist provides senior level support to the Writing Studies and Rhetoric department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for all aspects of the organization of the Hofstra University writing proficiency and exemption exams which includes initiating all correspondence regarding the exam to students and faculty and setting up exam schedules, dates, and venues. Coordinates the Writing Studies & Rhetoric (WSR) essay contest each semester. Prepares promotional and marketing materials for the department and updates the blog. Assists with the setup of the website for exams held during the semester and during final exam week. Organizes grading calibration sessions with faculty. Provides information about proficiency exam procedures and results to students, faculty, and administrators as needed. Works closely with the office of Academic Records to ensure proficiency exam results are posted on permanent transcripts. Assists with the oversight and coordination of the mid-semester, one-credit writing workshops and the Writing Matters workshops. May perform other duties not specifically identified above, but which require the same degree of skill, and which are normally included within the above job title. Hours: Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. Subject to bumping
Qualifications | Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel required. Detail oriented, self-motivated, well organized, and has the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential information in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work well with others and independently.
Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of Ellucian Banner, Degree Works and Canvas preferred. Ability to work with multiple levels of the Hofstra community.

Salary/Salary Range | $49,111

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
