About the Opportunity
The Banner ERP Programmer Analyst position is highly technical in nature. The position involves working with users in all administrative departments to assess, recommend, build, deliver, train and support solutions to emerging business needs, primarily by supporting the college’s use of Ellucian Banner and related systems/interfaces. This position reports to the Director, Application Services.
Where you will make an impact
- Working with users to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements, to enhance their effective and efficient use of Ellucian Banner and related systems / interfaces ensuring compliance and controls, automation and integration and overall customer satisfaction.
- Designing or writing program specifications and other documentation based on consultations with supervisor, end users, and others.
- Converting designs and specifications into PL/SQL, SQL, Java, HTML5 or other common languages.
- Writing SQL against the Banner and other SQL databases and using it to construct reports using Excel, Argos, Forms Fusion, and other reporting tools.
- Developing robust test plans and leading in their execution to find and correct errors and to confirm that solutions being delivered meet requirements and specifications.
- Writing and maintaining documentation of changes to procedures, computer code, programs, and specifications.
- Possessing the ability to write reports, business correspondence, develop process flow and procedure diagrams and manuals.
- Additionally, possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, other managers, clients, and the general public.
- Providing technical assistance by triaging and responding to inquiries and reports related to errors, problems, or general questions with delivered solutions.
- Training end users or technical support staff to use and support programs.
- Monitoring performance of programs after implementation including troubleshooting of systems integrated with Banner ERP.
- Communicating overall status of assignments to supervisor and other managers and preparing and submitting all required status reports as required by supervisors, managers, and customers.
What you will bring
- Successfully implementing, maintaining, managing and supporting Ellucian Banner ERP systems for Higher Education (college/university) clients.
Strong knowledge of SQL, especially with the Banner database and familiarity and experience with other programming languages. - Experience with software solutions typically used by admissions, recruiting, and student units in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated project planning and execution experience required.
- High degree of creativity with a "can-do" attitude; display high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to iteratively set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies, projects and resources.
- Strong team building and excellent interpersonal skills including project/team leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with third-party products such as UC4/Automic, Dynamic Forms, or ARGOS.
- Knowledge of Ellucian ETHOS model and/or API development.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Experience is a plus.
- Experience with MS Office 365 and other tools for office productivity and collaboration.
