The Ellucian Professional Services team is seeking an energetic, dynamic, and collaborative Senior Integration Engineer (Senior Consultant) to help customers build integration infrastructure to help our SaaS and Data Integration strategy. This impactful and visible role requires someone who can build great relationships and strategies for Ethos Integration, the central nervous system of the modern Higher Education-connected campus.
As Senior Integration Engineer (Senior Consultant), you will lead integration development projects, supporting the business capabilities that provide core functionality in running the client business higher education businesses. You will analyze business requirements and ensure implemented integrations are effectively integrated into the modernization technology ecosystem. You will ensure that the technology solutions delivered are aligned with enterprise strategies and adhere to target reference architectures by applying sound architectural principles & best practices and following client’s IT governance processes and guidelines. This role is critical as we build our next-generation services and capabilities to mature our solution on the cloud. This role will assist our key technology strategy while directly responsible for service architecture, which integrates several of our products/solutions across the enterprise. Where you will make an impact
- Requirements Gathering: Schedule and conduct meetings with customer representatives to understand and capture detailed business requirements, ensuring accuracy for downstream phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Architecture Design: Propose scalable and efficient system architectures that align with Ellucian’s product direction, are cost-effective, and meet customer needs.
- Technology Selection: Identify and select appropriate technologies for integration solutions, taking into account the constraints of the client’s environment and system requirements.
- Integration Implementation: Design and implement integration solutions that connect ERP systems with other enterprise applications, databases, and third-party systems, ensuring seamless data exchange.
- Project Guidance & Coordination: Provide ongoing project guidance, managing coordination with offshore resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare concise, detailed technical documents that accurately describe project requirements, design specifications, and integration processes.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with a team of developers to architect, build, and test integration solutions in accordance with prepared specifications. Ensure alignment across the team and with stakeholders.
- Estimation: Prepare accurate estimates for integration work and contribute to prioritizing the backlog.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Apply strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex integration issues and perform root cause analysis on system performance or application problems.
- Mentorship: Provide mentorship to junior developers, assisting in skill development and best practices within the team.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with Ellucian applications and emerging technologies, constantly improving integration practices and solutions.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of experience in system architecture, ERP integration, and enterprise-level application design.
- Technical knowledge:
- Integration Technologies:
- Expertise in APIs, ETL processes, middleware, and integration patterns.
- Experience integrating ERP systems (e.g., Ellucian, SAP, Oracle) with enterprise systems, databases, and third-party apps.
- Development Frameworks:
- Familiarity with Java,NodeJS, React.js, and similar application development frameworks.
- Web Service Development & Integration:
- Experience with REST, SOAP, JMS messaging, Request/Reply, and Publish/Subscriber models.
- Integration Architecture:
- Knowledge of complex integration architecture and design.
- Hands-on experience with ESB platforms (MuleSoft ESB, Oracle SOA/OSB, IBM Websphere ESB, Microsoft BizTalk).
- SOA Architecture & API Development:
- Strong understanding of SOA architecture.
- Experience designing and developing inbound/outbound integration interfaces (REST and SOAP services).
- Database & Version Control:
- Experience with SQL databases.
- Knowledge of version control systems (GIT, SVN).
- CI/CD: Familiar with CI/CD processes and tools.
- Integration Technologies:
- Leadership skills: Experience working within both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, including managing workstreams, sprints, and day-to-day project coordination Managing projects in JIRA or equivalent tools
- Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to deconstruct complex technical problems and perform root cause analysis.
- Team Skills: Proven ability to work collaboratively within large teams, driving strategic initiatives in complex environments.

- ERP System Knowledge: Experience working with Ellucian products (e.g., Banner, Colleague) or other higher education ERP systems.
- Cloud & Integration Platforms: Experience with cloud-based integration tools and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, MuleSoft) is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant technical certifications in integration platforms, ERP systems, or cloud technologies are a plus
- Any candidates with knowledge of the Ethos Platform (like Experience, Ethos Data Connect, or Ethos API platform) will be an advantage
