THE ROLE

The Senior Manager, Data Systems and Analysis reports to the Director of Operations. In this role you will own, build, and maintain our data systems as well as provide actionable insights through reporting and analysis to a variety of stakeholders. In collaboration with the Director, Operations, this role will play a critical role in org-wide evaluation, design, and implementation of data systems and tools. You will work closely with our project teams to deliver on client data and reporting needs, including developing sustainable data collection tools and templates.

A successful candidate will be a team player with a passion for data systems, data analytics, and reporting, including building scalable, efficient data systems and processes, and will have experience in roles that require fast-paced learning. The ideal candidate is able to work independently on projects, identify and implement solutions, and lead others to action. They have superior data analytic skills and are adept at tackling both small, detail-oriented tasks and implementing data systems and tools by asking insightful questions.

This position can be based from a home office anywhere in the U.S. Depending on location, expected travel time is 10 - 20% for onsite project work, company or team retreats, and other events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Systems Development, Reporting, and Analysis (40 - 50%)

  • Collaboratively design, implement, and maintain scalable data systems and tools to support organizational and client needs. 
  • Conduct needs assessments and focus groups to gather information on our data systems, analysis, and reporting needs. 
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools to enhance our data management capabilities and streamline our processes. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data efficiency and effectiveness across internal operations and client projects.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Operations develop data policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Design internal and client dashboards using complex data sets from various sources
  • Serve as the point of contact for data-related needs for both internal initiatives or client projects.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to provide actionable insights to stakeholders including project teams, internal operations, continuous improvement, and business development needs. 
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand data needs and deliver customized reports and analyses.

Service Delivery on Client Projects (30 - 40%)

  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with clients including state, district, school leaders to help achieve project goals and contribute to the continuation and expansion of our work.
  • Own the vision for completing the data workstream on projects in alignment with project goals and scope, specifically managing data and reporting needs and building data and reporting tools where necessary.
  • Manage data workstreams and timelines across multiple projects.
  • Engage with project team members and clients to collect feedback and customize data deliverables to meet client needs.
  • Train and coach team members to effectively provide data and reporting support on projects.

Leadership and Management (5 - 10%)

  • Contribute to hiring and development of team members, while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that reflects SchoolKit's culture, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and, inclusion.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in data management, reporting and analysis, with a focus on system design, implementation, and evaluation in an education-related organization such as a school, a school district, or a non-profit
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Statistics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or relevant experience

SKILLS

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Intermediate-Advanced proficiency in SQL (Cloud SQL)
  • Intermediate-Advanced proficiency in Apps Script, highly preferred
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data
  • Experience with data automation tools (e.g. AirTable)
  • Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Google Looker Studio)
  • Experience with Monday project management software required
  • Experience establishing foundational data systems and tools
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to data management
  • Demonstrate superb attention to detail: skilled at identifying, recording, and following up on complex action items

COMPENSATION

The starting salary for this position will be between $85,000 - 95,000 and is dependent on experience.
