Senior Tax Technology and Data Specialist


Job Summary
A hands-on job in a 6-person tax department at a multinational software company which is a leader in the prepackaged technical computing & engineering software markets.   The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the tax, accounting and information technology departments, improving the understanding of the tax department’s information technology needs.  The candidate will work with the tax team on many day-to-day responsibilities related to US and international tax matters and will assist with identifying opportunities to streamline processes and automate calculations.  The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, possess an aptitude for systems and have experience with automating data-intensive calculations.  The candidate should be willing to partner with IT & Corporate Accounting to utilize a systematic approach to improve/automate workflows.  Ideally, this candidate also will have at least 3-5 years of general corporate tax experience and have the passion to learn and practice corporate taxation.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain tax technology solutions, including tax calculation software, data analytics tools, and reporting systems.
  • Work with IT teams to integrate tax software with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP systems)
  • Manage the technical aspects of tax data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)   to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Provide technical support for tax systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system updates are applied.
  • Assist in tax data modeling, tax reporting, and automation of tax filings.
  • Stay up to date with developments in tax technology and propose innovative solutions to improve tax operations.
  • Train and support internal stakeholders on the effective use of tax technology tools.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Prepare documentation on systems, workflows, and tax-related technology processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax audits and manage the delivery of tax-related reports and information to external auditors.
  • Assist with tax aspects of year-end financial reporting process, including gathering of necessary data, preparation of US and foreign income tax provisions and preparation of necessary disclosures

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Candidates for this position must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without restriction.

Additional Qualifications
  • Ideally, 3-5 years or more general corporate tax experience.
  • Passion to learn and practice corporate taxation.

  • Ability to develop system requirements
  • Ability to pull, manipulate, and analyze data.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel/Macros, ERP cloud, EPM, and Oracle.
  • Experience working with complex data models.

  • Experience with tax calculations, especially R&D credit and transfer pricing, a plus
