About the Opportunity

This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days/week in the office in Reston, VA OR Malvern, PA

Ellucian is seeking a dynamic, bold and creative social media expert to establish and own the company’s social media strategy and execution. The Director, Social Media will work across teams and levels throughout the organization to elevate our social media strategy in order to amplify the Ellucian story and demonstrate our market leadership through all channels. This role will define and nurture our executive social media strategy and reporting metrics, and lead the creation of compelling social copy and multimedia assets. The right candidate for this position is highly organized, detail-oriented, data-driven, operates with speed and is comfortable leading across teams and geographies in a fast-paced digital workflow environment. The Director, Social Media will be part of an incredibly talented Communications Team working centrally to elevate the Ellucian brand in all global regions.

Where you will make an impact
  • Establish, own and drive the strategy, including responsibility for quality control, for Ellucian’s accounts on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc. across all regions
  • Audit existing social media platforms and develop ongoing and consistent recommendations for key leaders for maintaining impactful profiles; coordinate with colleagues on content, planning and execution
  • Work directly with the executive leadership team to enhance visibility of their social media profiles and thought leadership
  • Lead social media strategy and execution at Ellucian Live; develop comprehensive plan including pre-event, onsite and post-event
  • Coordinate with the events team on promotions of field and corporate events
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships across teams to accomplish goals; establish consistent touchpoints and develop coordinated plans across all teams.
  • Determine when social media accounts need to be sunset; create and execute plans to make this happen
  • Maintain policies and guidelines for the company-wide use of social media
  • Create new strategies to promote the Ellucian brand, company events, industry insights content, and executive activities
  • Create visually engaging multimedia content tailored to customer segments
  • Interview customers and employees for video and digital marketing teams
  • Direct all employee-facing social advocacy efforts including internal programs and external platforms
  • Work closely across teams to amplify Ellucian thought leadership content
  • Proactively engage with industry thought leadership content and serve up recommendations to key stakeholders to do the same
  • Elevate customer stories through compelling social content and initiatives
  • Develop data processes and reports to demonstrate business impact of social across Ellucian stakeholders; regularly report out on metrics and adjust social strategy based on those metrics
  • Implement and support a company-wide social media training program and knowledge center
  • Connect with internal stakeholders and external partners to ideate and brainstorm social goals and tactics
  • Establish cross-company social media calendar; Lead meetings to align on calendarization, production practices, and output standards
  • Analyze, document, and communicate results across Ellucian’s social activities
  • Monitor industry and competitor social media activity, proactively prepare recommendations for rapid response to issues, and engage with various audiences on a range of topics.

What you will bring
  • 12+ years of experience directing the social media presence and strategy for an organization or educational institution; direct experience with SaaS and cloud technology
  • Fluent in social media strategy, current social management software, and data analytics for all major social networks
  • Proven experience building cross-organizational consensus and stake in new initiatives
  • Experience with editing software (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Photoshop)
  • The ability to stay agile and composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding time and project management skills with the ability to quickly and effectively reprioritize workloads and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Experienced at managing social media for in-person and virtual events
  • Effective speaker/presenter able to interact comfortably with audiences of all levels and sizes
  • Able to prepare and deliver compelling presentations and training sessions
  • Interpersonal skills to navigate across all areas of the organization; comfortable with influencing and directing even without direct reporting lines
  • Demonstrated people management experience including the ability to foster collaboration, inspire creativity in others, and motivate and lead a small team of high impact performers
