The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. Senior Technical Training Specialist Pay Range - $85,800-$109,450
The Senior Technical Training Specialist is responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders to coordinate and deliver corporate training technical programs. This role will support the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of technical skills training initiatives to meet organizational needs and enhance workforce capabilities.
- Conduct comprehensive needs analyses with internal stakeholders to ensure learning content is aligned with identified business and performance goals.
- Partner with leadership and subject matter experts to analyze business data, identify skill gaps, and prioritize training and development opportunities. and use business data to identify and target areas for training and development. Forecast and communicate potential training outcomes and value to senior leaders.
- Manage and seek ways to continuously improve the technical skills assessment and development program.
- Determine and implement the most effective training delivery methods and performance support tools (on-the-job, classroom, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc.) to address performance gaps efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Identify and manage training resources, including employees/teams and external training vendors to design, deliver, and maintain current, relevant training content that reflects industry standards.
- Design and develop impactful technical training experiences that enhance employee knowledge and close performance gaps using appropriate instructional methods and tools.
- Ensure technical training program meet internal quality standards as well as any applicable regulatory or compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and eLearning specialists to recommend the most effective in-person or online learning formats, develop and review scripts as needed, and design engaging, interactive content delivery.
- Serve as a liaison between management, SMEs, and trainers to facilitate progress toward the goal of the technical support training program.
- Secure all necessary program support, including training materials, facilities, and SME availability, to ensure successful delivery of training.
- Coordinate technical training onboarding efforts for new hires within designated organizations.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and training providers for specialized technical courses and certifications.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding training schedules, technical issues, and learning support needs.
- Maintain technical training program documentation for internal team purposes as components and learning experiences change based on feedback and current company and industry needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation for procedures and policies to be used as reference material.
- Monitor and track employee participation and progress, ensuring timely completion of required training and certifications. Follow up with participants to confirm attendance, prerequisites, and pre-work completion.
- Communicate participant training progress and outcomes to all levels of leadership as needed.
- Track and analyze training program data, including attendance, completion rates, assessment scores, and learner engagement.
- Ensure the accuracy and relevance of training materials and course content through routine reviews and updates.
- Establish benchmarks and success criteria for newly launched training programs and measure against set goals.
- Maintain documentation of evaluation processes and ensure all metrics align with company learning and development objectives.
Other:
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Understand and adhere with SPP Policies and Procedures.
- Provide expertise and support for other employees, as needed in areas of specialization.
- Handle administrative communication with participants, supporting trainers, subject-matter experts and vendors via a variety of communication tools. (e.g., e-mails, documentation, etc.)
- Assist organizations in facilitating training budgets.
- Manage Learning Management System (LMS) administration tasks, including user enrollment, course assignments, and reporting.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Two years of relevant job-related experience, in advance of the minimum years’ experience below, may be considered in lieu of degree requirement)
- Six (6)+ years of job-related experience in the electric utility industry, or equivalent training or performance support experience (in addition to the degree requirement above)
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs for diverse audiences.
- Experience working with subject matter experts (SMEs) and senior leadership to assess needs and implement training solutions.
- Proficiency in instructional design methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and performance-based training development.
- Ability to analyze data to assess training effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
- Ability to build partnerships and influence across all levels of the organization.
- Flexibility and the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
- Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
Preferred:
- Demonstrated understanding of Project Management Principles
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related, engineering or education/training-related field
- Advanced degree in related field
