Staff Accountant
Finance - Columbia, Maryland

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and be capable of maintaining accurate financial records and supporting overall financial management.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely accounting of revenues and related accounts (i.e. revenue sharing with partners, accounts receivable, deferred revenues etc.)
  • Maintaining and utilizing Excel spreadsheets to analyze revenue accounting and the preparation of journal entries
  • Works with external Stakeholders to create and deliver reports including but not limited to collections, AR aging, enrollments, drops, transfers, refunds, and revenue
  • Journalizing revenue accounting activities in NetSuite (our ERP system)
  • Ensure information flow completely, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Ensures complete reconciliation of subledger to general ledger on a monthly basis
  • Collaborates with fellow revenue accountant to maintain revenue supporting schedule and cost amortization
  • Work with Revenue Operations Accounting Manager on a daily basis to ensure daily tasks are in line with required accounting standards; recommending changes as needed
  • Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential
 
Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills are a must. Prior experience working directly with internal and external stakeholders and collaborating in a team environment will be prioritized
  • Strong Excel skills are a must – vlookup, index/match, pivot tables, and other standard formula knowledge is mandatory. The desire to grow your knowledge and skills would be great as there are opportunities to learn advanced functions like power pivot/power queries
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA/Chartered Accountant qualifications or in progress with those qualifications is preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance roles is required; Revenue/AR experience is highly preferred
