Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) Full Description

At Brisk Teaching, we aim to lighten the workload for teachers with AI powered tools that take care of administrative tasks so that teachers can spend more time doing what they love - teaching. Brisk is an AI-powered Chrome extension that simplifies teaching by integrating seamlessly with tools teachers already use like Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, YouTube, and articles. In seconds, teachers can create instructional materials, provide feedback, and evaluate student work - right from where they're already working.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Staff Software Engineer to take ownership and drive the development and implementation of high-quality software products that educators and students use every day. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience across the technology stack and demonstrate a solid understanding of modern software engineering practices. In this role, you will help us drive our technical strategy and delivery of our product to educators and students.

YOU WILL:
  • Product Development: Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of our platform.
  • Full-stack Development: Implement front-end interfaces using React and develop back-end solutions using Python and frameworks similar to Flask.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Help manage and expand our AWS resources while ensuring security and performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team, founding team, and designers to roll out new features.
  • Technical Guidance: We are a small team! Help us define our foundational engineering practices, uphold engineering standards, and share your expertise with others.

YOU HAVE:
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, React, and familiarity with back-end frameworks such as Flask.
  • Cloud Experience: Practical experience with AWS.
  • Software Engineering Experience: At least 7 years in the field.
