Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Student Services Associate in the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position will provide immediate and comprehensive services to customers relating to federal, state, and institutional regulatory requirements, awarding financial aid, calculating federal need analysis eligibility, performing detailed technical duties , conducting financial aid presentations and providing intensive educational loan program data. The incumbent is the first point of contact for the department and with other university personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of University policies including FERPA and procedures related to the area of assignment.Considerable knowledge (or ability to rapidly assimilate and retain) university operating procedures, organization and management policies.Working knowledge of sound business principles, practices, and techniques. Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.High level of competence using email and search engines.When required: Skill in typing at a moderately fast rate with few errors.Knowledge of general safe working procedures related to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications
Two Years of Experience within a Financial Aid Office.Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).Knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Customer service experience in multiple settings.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

The physical ability to sit at ta complete for long periods of time.Ability to problem solve and make decisions.Skill in composing routine letters and preparing reports.Skill in recording and compiling material for reports.Ability to work independently.Excel and Data Analysis experience.Strong public speaking skills

Assessing and adjusting cost of attendance budgets Determining if verification data elements have an impact on aid eligibility Assessing program eligibilityPerforming Loan Check Management, Loan Entrance Exit Counseling, and Scholarship ProcessingAssisting, scheduling, coordinating and participating in annual Financial Aid Help Sessions, campus and community events and college nights.Answering questions and complaints regarding Federal, State, and Institutional regulations and guidelines Analyzes and monitors computer reports for accuracy, adherence to requirements, and/or discrepancies, and takes corrective actions Prepares report and maintains statistical data in functional area Processes and reviews applications for grants, loans, and/or scholarships Maintains and posts records in electronic and paper record system Counseling and routing incoming inquiries regarding financial aid application processes Assuming accountability for and maintaining knowledge of federal, state and institutional guidelines and regulations Determining and explaining formulas and calculations
