The Marcy Lab School, Senior Director of Recruitment and Admissions Full Description

ORGANIZATION
The Marcy Lab School was founded because its Co-Founders saw room for innovation. They saw the lack of affordable, high-quality post-secondary education opportunities, especially for young people from underserved communities. Despite the sector's immense growth, they also saw the lack of representation in the tech industry and within its talent pipeline. They wanted to connect all of the wildly talented young people who needed a more promising ROI than traditional college to all of the opportunities in the tech sector, but they wanted to go beyond teaching code to provide a 360 curriculum that deeply engages the needs of low-income young people of color who have been routinely and systematically underestimated. The Marcy Lab School addresses their personal and professional development, the issues they will face in the workforce, and the challenges of an ever-evolving tech landscape.

At The Marcy Lab School, fellows are provided a rigorous yet affordable college alternative that propels underestimated young people into the financially rewarding, purpose-driven tech careers of their dreams. We build the engineering expertise, critical thinking skills, leadership qualities, and the network that our fellows need to become their best selves, serve their communities, and thrive within an evolving tech sector.

Requirements
To fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Senior Director of Recruitment and Admissions candidate will embody The Marcy Lab School’s Core Values in their work with staff, Fellows, alumni, volunteers, and hiring partners:
  • Humility: We acknowledge that our strongest ideas may not come from ourselves but from anyone on our team, and we intentionally share our space, time, and energy with others without the need for reciprocity. Humility is holding yourself accountable, showing gratitude, and knowing we all have so much more to learn.
  • Deliberateness: We give each other the space and permission to be deliberate about our choices, bringing awareness and thoughtfulness to the impact of our actions. It’s taking prep time as seriously as meeting time and allowing space to prioritize and focus on your main things.
  • Gratitude: We are thankful for every experience, person, and interaction that has come our way, from the good to the not-so-good. Gratitude is expressing appreciation so others feel seen, and it’s deeply connected to humility—it requires acknowledging the other.
  • Equity: Our work is grounded in honoring, supporting, and empowering the communities of color that have gotten us to where we are. In practice, equity means centering the voices who look like our Fellows, sharing resources, and ensuring our team reflects the communities we serve.
  • Transparency: We intentionally created systems that are radically transparent and openly hold ourselves accountable for what we say and how we lead. Transparency is saying the hard things, sharing decisions, and delivering the truth even when it's messy or hard.

Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary of $139,048 and a robust benefits package. More details can be provided upon request.

Additional benefits include:
  • Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance;
  • An Employer-sponsored retirement plan (including a 3% employer match);
  • A $1,000 annual professional development budget to be spent on anything from conferences, membership dues, executive coaching, or out-of-pocket therapy costs;
