As a User Experience Designer at PowerSchool, you play a vital role in enhancing the educational technology landscape by crafting intuitive and engaging digital experiences. You meticulously research, design, and iterate on user interfaces, ensuring our educational platforms are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with pedagogical objectives. By understanding the unique needs of educators, students, and administrators, you contribute to creating effective learning tools that improve engagement, accessibility, and overall educational outcomes. Your work streamlines user interactions, optimizes information architecture, and empowers learners, making you a pivotal asset in our mission to provide innovative and impactful solutions to the education sector. - Design: 60%
- Interaction Design:
Create intuitive and seamless user interfaces by designing user interactions, workflows, and user journeys.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the user interface aligns with user needs and business goals. - Visual Design / Design System:
Develop visually stunning and consistent designs reflecting our brand identity and principles. Contribute to developing and maintaining our design system to ensure a cohesive user experience across all products. - Prototyping: Translate design concepts into interactive prototypes to facilitate user testing and gather feedback.
- Research: 15%
- Work with UX research to conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions.
- Use data and research findings to advocate for user-centered design solutions.
- Information Architecture: 5%
- Organize and structure information effectively to optimize users’ ability to find and access content.
- Collaborate on creating user flows, site maps, and navigation structures.
- Team and Internal Stakeholder Collaboration: 20%
- Collaborate with the development, product, user experience teams and other internal stakeholders to share design work and explain design decisions.
- Engage in regular design reviews and critiques with other UX team members. These sessions facilitate diverse perspectives and constructive feedback, leading to well-rounded design solutions considering various user experience aspects.
Qualifications:
To be considered for and perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility. The requirements below represent knowledge, skill, and/or ability.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- 7+ years of design experience
- Understanding of all the modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD)
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly focused team environment.
- Self-starter and with demonstrated initiative.
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through completing a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $93,800 - $163,700 USD. This compensation range is specific to the United States and it incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; specific geographic location; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
