Job PurposeThe Vice President of Corporate Communications will lead external and internal communications planning and execution in support of business goals and organizational growth. Working closely with the executive team, including the CEO, this role will ensure a unified, compelling communication strategy that aligns with Great Minds’ growth, mission, and impact in the K-12 education sector.
Responsibilities - Strategic Communications Leadership:
- o Partner with senior leadership to define corporate messaging, narrative, and brand identity in accordance with the business strategic plan and in response to market conditions.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of Great Minds' master brand strategy and ensure alignment across all communications.
- Manage content creation, including press releases, blog posts, whitepapers, and thought leadership articles, ensuring all materials align with the company’s voice and strategic objectives.
- Brand Positioning & Reputation Management:
- Protect and elevate the company’s brand and reputation across all markets.
- Lead the creation and enforcement of the brand’s visual identity, communications style guides, and playbooks to ensure consistency across all communication channels.
- Develop and execute thought leadership and brand campaigns to highlight company milestones, product launches, and educational leadership.
- External Communications & Media Relations:
- Lead media relations efforts, building relationships with key journalists, influencers, and media outlets.
- Secure high-impact media coverage, thought leadership placements, and speaking opportunities to amplify the company’s visibility.
- Manage crisis communications and media issues, ensuring effective responses to challenges or reputational risks.
- Internal Communications & Executive Messaging:
- Lead external executive communications for key moments such as leadership transitions, company reorganizations, and major organization initiatives.
- Partner with HR internal communications on market dynamics to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with company priorities
- Event Strategy & Execution:
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to execute industry events, conferences, and webinars that showcase Great Minds’ products, thought leadership, and educational mission.
- Ensure events are aligned with the overall communication strategy, delivering value to both internal and external audiences.
- Analytics & Reporting:
- Track and analyze communication campaign effectiveness, media coverage, and engagement metrics.
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership on key performance indicators, using data to optimize future strategies.
Job requirements
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in corporate communications with 7+ years leading high performing teams preferable in a K12 market.
- Strategic Thinker: You have experience aligning communication strategies with business goals and navigate complex challenges.
- Brand Architect: Experience building and managing a brand’s visual identity, tone, and style guides to ensure consistency and alignment across all touchpoints.
- Crisis Communication Expert: Skilled at managing high-stakes communication, from issue management to handling crisis situations effectively.
- Proven Leader: A track record of leading cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration.
- Media & Public Relations Specialist: Well-connected in the media and influencer landscape, with a proven ability to secure high-impact media coverage.
- Policy & Advocacy Savvy: Knowledgeable about federal, state, and local policies and the ability to lead advocacy efforts within the K-12 education space.
- Content-Driven: Adept at overseeing the creation of impactful, on-brand content that resonates with key stakeholders.
- Collaborative & Adaptable: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to pivot quickly in response to changing market conditions or business priorities.

The expected base salary range for this position is $218,000-$235,000, however the offered salary may be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
