Visual Designer - Contract Full Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Visual UI Designer to support the DreamBox Math student experience. This role creates the aesthetic and interactive elements of the student experience, ensuring it is visually appealing, consistent and user-friendly for students in grades K-8. The designer designs layouts, color schemes, typography and graphical elements that motivate and engage students. This role primarily works with Product Management, Curriculum and Engineering colleagues to bring new student experiences to life in our product.

 In This Role You Will:

• Design visually engaging user interfaces for DreamBox’s student experience, focusing on aesthetics, consistency and functionality
• Develop design elements such as layouts, color schemes, typography, icons and illustrations that align with DreamBox’s brand identity
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user needs and business goals into compelling visual designs
• Maintain design systems, style guides and component libraries to ensure consistency across products
• Leverage tools like Adobe Animate, Figma, and Photoshop to create high-fidelity mockups and prototypes
• Work closely with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and function as attended
• Partner with Product Management and Research to test mockups and prototypes with students

Core Competencies for Success:
• Ability to conduct visual design research
• Solid understanding and practical application of key design tools (Figma, Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Blender, Adobe Surface Painter)
• Animation capabilities - be able to produce light to medium animations in dependent on the needs of the product (Adobe Animate, Blender, Procreate, Procreate Dreams, Unity, Lottie or After Effects)
• Ability to Test assets created and follow up with development to find solutions
• Ability to communicate (written and verbally) with precision, clarity, candor, and respect to others on your team
• Have a true passion for your craft and are a team player with a positive outlook

Credentials and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience as a UI Visual Designer or similar role with a strong portfolio showcasing your work
• Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Animate, Blender, Procreate, Procreate Dreams, Unity, Lottie or After Effects
• Strong understanding of visual design principles, including layout, typography and color theory
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail and a user-centered mindset
• Legal right to work in the United States
