VP of Design
As VP of Design, you will lead the design function at Kajabi, and will be responsible for ensuring that every interaction our customers (internally called Heroes) have is intuitive and well integrated end-to-end. You will report to the Chief Product Officer, and play a key role in determining both the design direction of the product as well as the overarching product strategy. You’ll build and manage a best-in-class team to bring that vision to life for our Heroes, and act as a leader at the company to help ensure that attention to detail is brought into every interaction our customers have with Kajabi. You are a player-coach and lead through example; your team looks up to you because you know how to do their job and jump in when needed.

The impact you will make
  • Build, lead and inspire a team of best-in-class designers who obsess over our Heroes and our mission to help them become successful entrepreneurs
  • Lead the team in balancing our speed of execution against the high quality bar of experiences we expect to deliver to our Heroes
  • Ensure a cohesive customer experience across all products, being thoughtful about how we avoid a “ship your org chart” experience
  • Establish design standards, processes, and best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all product lines
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional leadership, including product, engineering, marketing, and research teams, to drive design excellence and integrate user-centered design principles throughout the organization
  • Partner with the broader Product leadership team to refine and evangelize our product vision and strategy, ensuring we are prioritizing the right opportunities and acting as one team in service of meeting our goals

Attributes for success
  • Craft: You possess exceptional attention to design detail and quality that elevates product experiences beyond mere functionality. You are deeply committed to refining the nuances of design, from visual elements to interaction patterns, while guiding teams to apply these principles consistently across all touchpoints. You understand that craft is what transforms a feature from one that "addresses requirements" to one that delights users and builds business value.
  • Vision: You can articulate a compelling creative vision that aligns with business objectives and inspires the entire organization. You establish clear processes and practices for realizing that vision while setting a high bar for quality. You act as a "vision-keeper" for the organization, charting the future direction for user experiences that differentiate our company in the marketplace.
  • Leadership: You are both a player-coach with deep UX expertise and an inspirational leader who builds and nurtures high-performing design teams. You create an environment where creativity thrives, talent is developed, and team members feel empowered to do their best work. You understand that effective leadership means setting the tone through mentoring, providing constructive feedback, and advocating for your team across the organization.
  • Collaboration: You excel at building relationships across functions, particularly with product, engineering, and marketing teams. You effectively communicate design decisions, advocate for user needs, and negotiate priorities while maintaining a collaborative spirit. You recognize that design doesn't exist in isolation and work to integrate user experience design into the product development process through strong partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Execution: You drive action, monitor progress, and help teams overcome obstacles to transform vision into reality. You implement efficient design processes and methodologies that balance quality with speed to market. You establish clear metrics for measuring design success and continuously improve the team's ability to deliver exceptional experiences, ensuring the rubber meets the road through decisive action and persistence.

Who you are
  • 12+ years of experience in UX/product design, with at least 7+ years in design leadership roles
  • Proven track record of building and leading design teams that have delivered exceptional digital products at scale for audiences of significant size

  • Deep expertise in user-centered design methodologies, research techniques, and design systems
  • Experience working cross-functionally with teams like product management, engineering, and marketing to drive vision, strategy and execution
  • Strong understanding of design's impact on business metrics and ability to advocate for design decisions using data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts to executive leadership
  • Experience with, and curiosity about, emerging technologies including AI-driven systems, conversational UX, or other innovative interaction models
