Web Developer III Full Description

Department: Web & Digital Marketing

Salary: 4,550.00 - 5,120.83

Performs administrative, development, maintenance and other technical duties in support of the University of Houston World Wide Web site and server. Assists the Web Administrator in maintaining efficient operation of the university Web services. 

1. Develops and implements applications, database interfaces and services for the website, using programming languages such as Perl, CGI, HTML, Java, XML, php, or Apache. 
2. Assists with management of the University of Houston Web server, including testing and upgrades, CGI-BIN administration and file system management. 
3. Creates and maintains web analysis tools or other web services. 
4. Coordinates with division contacts and updates information on the website to ensure that the university is well represented. 
5. Researches and evaluates new techniques and software for use on the UH web site. 
6. Coordinates assigned projects and leads the work of other Web staff assigned to the projects. 
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Notes to Applicant: 

Ideal Candidates will possess: 

• 2 years experience using PHP 5.3+, 
• Experience using MariaDB, MySQL, or equivalent, 
• Experience using HTML/5, CSS/3, and JavaScript, 
• Experience using XSLT for templating, 
• Understanding and applying ARIA/WCAG standards, 
• Manage communicating updates on projects to leadership or external stakeholders. 

Preferred: NodeJS and Typescript experience.
